Staff Sergeant Jeremy C. Bowen
Staff Sergeant Bowen was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and underwent recruit training in Alpha Company, First Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California in July 2005. From there Private Bowen reported to School of Infantry, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, for Marine Combat Training. After completion, Private Bowen reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida for Aviation Ordnance “A” School then to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina to attend the Aviation Ordnance “C” school, earning the MOS of 6541, Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician.
In April 2006 Private First Class Bowen was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 11, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, serving as an Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician. In January 2008 Corporal Bowen was deployed to Al Asad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In March of 2009 Corporal Bowen was deployed to Dwyer, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. After his return to MALS-11 Sergeant Bowen performed as a Quality Assurance Safety Observer (QASO) until September 2010 when he was deployed to Kandahar Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In July of 2011 Sergeant Bowen reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC. Sergeant Bowen was assigned to Fox Company, Second Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and was assigned to Support Battalion as a Marine Corps Instructor of Water Survival until his completion of his tour in October of 2014.
In November of 2014 he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and assigned to MALS 31, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, SC where he would perform duties as an Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician. In September 2015 Staff Sergeant Bowen was assigned to Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 224 in support of the Unit Deployment Program until March 2016. In April of 2017 Staff Sergeant Bowen served as the Ordnance Chief during VMFA-224’s deployment to Bahrain in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. After his deployment Staff Sergeant Bowen returned to MALS-31 where he would perform duties as a QASO and Collateral Duty Inspector.
Staff Sergeant Bowen is currently serving as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor at Iowa State University.
His personal Awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars in lieu of 3rd award.
